Please Vikings, NO!

Update: It appears these are just rumors, and the Vikings aren’t going to destroy their future.  Check out the tweet from Judd Zulgad at the bottom

The Minnesota Vikings have disappointed their fans on and off for at least the past 14 years (wow, that’s really all the longer I’ve been a die hard fan? I’ve been watching since the Jim McMahon days though), but what I’ve just heard takes the cake. Also, does this make us better than other fans, being fans through thick and thin?

Rumor has it that the Vikings are interested in bringing back the less than stellar Tarvaris Jackson. News that is big enough that even though I actually have a lot of work to do today, I have to stop to make sure everyone understand the consequences of this decision.  Joe Webb has been awful this preseason.  Yet Jackson is far and away a worse QB.  Everyone complained last year when we brought in the second best bounce passer in the world last year in Donovan McNabb (the first by the way is Steve Nash), and they should be complaining even more about the possibility of bringing back T-Jack.  Ask McNabb (or Webb) it means nothing if you can throw the ball 10 miles if you can hit a wide open guy 10 feet from you.

If the Vikings are looking to bring in a more reliable backup for the “injury prone” Christian Ponder, why not go after Colt McCoy.  Quick side note, I’m not sure how one can be injury prone after one season in the NFL where he was absolutely battered behind a Tarvaris quality offensive line, but I digress.  McCoy is the guy the Vikings should have drafted back in the 2010 NFL draft, no offense to Toby Gerhart, who’s turned out to be a far better player, but now the Vikings can right their wrong. Heck, I’m sure at this point bringing back Jim McMahon would be better than bringing back TJ. You can read more about the other teams who will hopefully be dumb enough to take him here.
