This is a bad break for Greg Childs and the Vikings receiving group. Childs suffered a torn patellar tendon on both his left and right leg yesterday during training camp. He is expected to have surgery soon and will miss a significant amount of time. The amount of rehab time will depend on the severity of the injury but as a rookie the chance of him making an impact this year is very small. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Vikings place him on IR going forward so they can look to fill his spot.
Minnesota took a risk on Childs considering his injuries in college and so far it has backfired. Another injured player they took a risk on, Geoff Schwartz, also is out with a sports hernia and is expected to miss at least 4-6 weeks.
