Update: it’s now expected that Carlson will miss 1-2 weeks.
The Minnesota Vikings biggest off-season acquisition (outside of the draft of course) was TE John Carlson who they acquired in their usual off-season steal from the Seattle Seahawks.
Yesterday at practice Carlson suffered the Vikings’ first significant injury. Carlson sprained his MCL and is expected to be out 2 week or longer, which might hurt his chances to start to the season. But if there is ever a good time for this type of injury this is it. Even if it takes a month for him to recover he still would be ready for the opener on Sept. 9th. Hopefully when he returns he’ll pick up right where he needs to.
The positive here is that it gives the Vikings coaching staff much more time to watch Allen Resiner, Mickey Shuler, and Rhett Ellison with the added reps they will now get.
