It’s been awhile since we’ve done some honest blogging around here (following and telling our viewers about actual news, that’s not what blogging is all about), so I thought I’d do a bit on Kevin Love. I read this tweet from Dan Barreiro from KFAN that spurred this whole line of thinking.

Barreiro, I agree, 100%. However, according to what I’ve been hearing, Kevin Love wants to win (who doesn’t). So, is the max deal something that would’ve even made him happy? Would signing that max deal help get Brandon Roy, or Alexey Shved, or Kyle Korver? I doubt it. Right now Love has to love where the Timberwolves future is headed, I know most fans do (sorry about the Love and love thing, it was just cheesy).
It looks to me like the Wolves are a much improved team over last year, which at one point had them in the last playoff spot until the Minnesota curse came crashing down on them. The Vikings waited until the NFC Championship game before brining it crashing onto the ankle of Brett Favre. The Twins just wait for the Yankees to bring the curse to them. Anyway, getting back on topic, I’m not going to say that the Wolves are going to win it all this year, or even next, but they appear to me to be on a better path the Brooklyn (NJ) Nets (or the Magic, if they can deal Lopez for Dwight Howard).
While the Timber-pups are definitely doing the right things to make their team better, it still seems to me that the 3 spot is still a weakness. Fortunately for Adelman, Love, and the rest of the Wolves, they all essentially play the 3 spot. If Wolves fans use to say the KG could play the 3 then why not KL, at least he has an outside presence to his game. So, it’s a long ways off yet until the 12-13 season gets underway, but we can’t help but be excited with all of these great moves.
Update: 45 minutes after this post, it appears the Howard to Brooklyn deal has fallen through. Now K-Love appears to be in a much better spot than Lopez.

Love guarding 3′s would be a defensive nightmare. Unless he got some new found athleticism when he shaved his beard he has to stick to the 4 or 5. In fact, he needs to make a commitment to defense himself if he really is so worried about winning. Put him at the 3 to guard LeBron and we could easily see someone break Wilt’s record for most points scored.

I agree with that. I guess I just meant more offensively. Either way, you’re just adding to my point that we desperately need someone who can play the 3. Wait, people play defense in the NBA?
