UPDATE II: Korver has been officially shipped to the Hawks. The rumors of him to Minnesota had some real substance to them but the difficult discussions in the Batum sign-and-trade seem to be holding up a lot of moves for the Wolves. However, the Minnesota is rumored to still be a part of this deal. The report is Korver goes to Wolves and then to Atlanta. Bulls get a 2nd round pick from Minnesota. Minnesota picks up Atlanta’s trade exception (perhaps to help facilitate a Batum sign-and-trade). Chicago may be getting Kirk Hinrick in a sign-and-trade deal as well.
UPDATE: Bulls seem to like Luke Ridnour if a trade does happen. It makes sense for both parties in this situation. Ridnour’s role was diminishing with some of the
Wolves roster moves as of late.
Well didn’t see this one coming, although, on paper, it makes a lot of sense. Put your Nic Batum, Brandon Roy, and Alexey Shved jersey orders on hold because rumors and reports continue to swirl that Kyle Korver could very soon be a member
of the Minnesota Timberwolves (via ESPN).
Korver, 31, is a 3 point specialist who spent last year with the Chicago Bulls averaging only 8.1 points a game last year. However, he did shoot the 3 at a respectable 43.5% and we know the chicks dig the long ball. That is why Wes Johnson and his 31.5% 3-point shooting just wasn’t cutting it. Don’t expect Minnesota to send too much to Chicago in the deal. This may be more of an attempt by both teams to balance out their rosters. Right now, I see the Wolves with far too many guards so that may be a possibility. However, I could also see them interested in shipping out a highly selected underachieving player still on his bloated rookie contract.
