Wolves exploring sign-and-trade for Batum

As we wrote earlier the Wolves have agreed to a 4 year $45M offer sheet with Nicolas Batum. Portland has said they will match any offer made to Batum so the only option for the Wolves may be via a sign-and-trade. Reports are out that the Wolves have been exploring a 3-way trade with Portland involving Derrick Williams. The trade would send Batum to the Wolves, Andre Iguodala from Philly to Portland and Derrick Williams as part of a package to Philly. So far Portland has not seemed interested in the deal. Other scenarios are likely to develop in the coming days to get Batum in a Wolves jersey. If the deal fails to gain momentum the Wolves could also re-ignite talks with Philly to trade for Iguodala. They have had interest in him in the past but aren’t a fan of his remaining 2 year $30M contract.

On another note, the Wolves have been in contact with now free agent shooting guard Courtney Lee who has past connections and a good relationship with Rick Adelman. They may set up a visit with him in the near future.
