Wolves 2012 Free Agent Tracker

 The 2012 NBA free agency period is underway as of 11:00 pm CT Saturday June 30th. The Wolves could have as much as $20 million in cap space to spend. Michael Beasley and Anthony Randolph have not been tendered qualifying offers and have become unrestricted free agents while Martell Webster and Brad Miller are still on the roster but will be either bought out or traded.   • Rumored trade: Suns send Hakim Warrick, Robin Lopez to Hornets, Wolves send Wes Johnson and 1st round pick to Suns. Wolves involvement appears to be for cap clearing purposes (Story)
    • The cap room created is rumored to be used for a strong pursuit of Andrei Kirilenko
    • Sources confirm Wolves targeting Kirilenko, estimated 2-year deal averaging $9 Million per year
  • Minnesota has initiated contact with FA shooting guard Jodie Meeks
  • Celtics announce they will not match offer to Greg Stiemsma meaning he will be in a Wolves uniform next season
  • Close on a different signing, Wolves tell shooting guard Willie Green their interest is nearly gone
  • The Wolves also have shown interest in Warriors forward Dominic McGuire
  • The Wolves may be interested in FA forward Andrei Kirilenko who played last season in Russia
    • Kirilenko officially announced his desire to return to the NBA (7/24). No indication on how much interest Minnesota has in the defensive SF/PF
    • Sources say Wolves haven’t made a single call to Kirilenko’s agent (as of 7/23)
  • Jordan Hill has re-signed with the Lakers leaving them Greg Stiemsma as the only FA big man they seem to be targeting at this point.
  • The Celtics have signed Courtney Lee ending any hopes of him playing for Wolves

  July 11th-17th

  • The offer sheet to Batum has been signed and submitted, Portland has until midnight ET on Wednesday July 18th to match the offer.
  • On Sunday at 4pm CT the Wolves are expected to file the offer sheet, signed by Nic Batum, with the NBA.
  • The Wolves have traded Brad Miller and 2 second round picks to New Orleans for a conditional second round pick, this saves them the additional $800K for the buyout against the cap. (Story)
  • The Wolves have released Martell Webster, they will pay him $600K to clear his $5.7M from the cap for next season. (Story)
  • Minnesota now in Kyle Korver rumors as a trade facilitator; sending CHI a 2nd rounder, getting ATL’s trade exception (Story)
  • Wolves have been in talks with Memphis to send them Wes Johnson, or Wayne Ellington
    • This rumor is heating up. Might be a more of when not if. Ellington most likely to go.

  • Wolves will meet with RFA Nicolas Batum Sunday night and could make offer (Story)
    • Offered Batum a 4-year, $45 Million contract with incentives reaching $50 Million (Story)
  • Boston RFA Greg Stiemsma was in town Sunday (7/1) for his visit
    • More discussions will take place Sat. (7/7) after Wolves work out salary implications of Roy/Batum
