According to Leslie Fraiser, Asher Allen has informed the team that he will retire. The 24 year old Allen started 21 games in 3 seasons with the Vikings and was likely to receive plenty of playing time this coming season as well. He was slated to make $615,000 in base salary in his last year of his rookie contract. Allen has had two concussions in his 3 year NFL career with one coming late last season but Fraiser stated that Allen did not tie his decision to the concussions. It is still unknown whether his sudden retirement decision is health related or personal related but it sounds like more of a personal life decision.
