Jim Thome has just saved us from a long dragged out 600 home run watch. Tonight against the Tigers he hit home run number 599 and followed it quickly in his next at bat with number 600 for his career. The Tigers are the team Thome has hit the most home runs against so it’s only fitting he gets this milestone against them. Both balls were hit to the opposite field into the bullpen so he shouldn’t have a hard time getting his hands on the baseballs. He will have to negotiate with Joe Nathan to get his hands on the 600th. The entire Twins team along with Thome’s family came onto the field to congratulate the classy slugger. Next stop, Cooperstown.
